It seems that once again the Finnish company Nokia willing to recover the great name that it had once in the field of mobile telephony, Nokia embraced the Android concept last year, resurfacing hand in hand with HMD Global that has gone directly to conquer first the tremendously competitive Chinese market with its mid-range smartphones like Nokia 6 and the Nokia 7. And now it seems that the Finnish company Nokia will recover a concept that it did not use for more than a decade.

Nokia 8800 Sirocco

It is released in 2005, in the pre-iPhone era and when Nokia was owner and mistress of the mobile market, the Nokia 8800 was a bet for a more exclusive market based on a terminal with a stainless steel body, anti-scratch screen and a Sliding lid manufactured using the same bearings mounted by high-performance vehicles. The following year, in 2006 the Nokia 8800 Sirocco came out, a special edition that was already throwing the house out the window with 24-carat gold versions, sapphire crystal, leather case, themes of musician Brian Eno and a price that exceeded $2,000. In the current era in which a 256GB iPhone X costs almost $1,400, the price of 8800 Sirocco does not scare but imagine 12 years ago. The Sirocco, which can be found on eBay at prices ranging from $400 to $1,700, is back in the news precisely because it has been resurrected as a brand since HMD Global has registered a new terminal with a very similar name.

HMD registers the Nokia 8 Sirocco

With model number TA-1005 previously attributed to the future Nokia 9, HMD has registered a new smartphone under the name of Nokia 8 Sirocco, which will have a Snapdragon 835 processor -the Qualcomm that all the high-end of 2017 mounted-, a Dual camera with 12 and 13 Megapixel lenses, a 3250mAh battery and an OLED screen manufactured by LG. The truth is that more than the return of what was once the most expensive phone in the Nokia catalogue, everything points to a new model Nokia 8 (2019) with the exotic name of Sirocco placed as a special edition. We will be attentive to see if we know more. What will be the next family or model that Nokia will resurrect? So, what do you think about this?
