Gil-galad as High King in The Rings of Power
Set during the Second Age of Middle-Earth, the High King we see The Rings of Power is none other than Gil-galad. He is the last High King of the Noldor, and is also sometimes referred to as High King of the Elves of the West. During this time, he established a realm for the elves in Lindon, and his reach even expanded to the Misty Mountains and Greenwood the Great. In the show, we primarily see him residing in Rivendell, where he works closely with Elrond and also interacts briefly with Galadriel. While these events haven’t been depicted in The Rings of Power just yet, we do know that he’ll play a big part in leading the charge against Sauron in the future. He’s generally regarded as a competent leader of the elves and even worked closely with Elendil and the race of men when faced with the threat of Sauron once again. Both Gil-galad and Elendil were instrumental to the defeat of Sauron, which is what ultimately allowed Isildur to sever his hand and obtain the Ring to destroy.
